Chancellor Palpatine
The alter ego of Sith lord Darth Sidious. Palpatine began a senator from Naboo, eventually coming to represent the sector and then, thanks to a motion forwarded by Jar Jar Binks, was elected Chancellor. While Chancellor, he continued to manipulate the Jedi to engineer the fall of the Republic, and declare himself Emperor. For more on Palpatine go here.
