Rancor combat rules

Page history last edited by Rich Pizor 3 yrs ago

Since the Rancor's combat rules are still somewhat in testing (the deck is currently considered to be in "late beta") this page will serve as the reference point so that it can be easily updates as testing dictates. When the final rules are decided upon, they will remain here as well.

The Rancor and Malakili are both considered to use melee attacks for the purposes of defense cards that note a difference between melee and ranged attacks. However, to represent the Rancor's size, he has a slightly greater range then a standard melee character.

The Rancor may make melee attacks to any character adjacent to the Rancor. The Rancor may also make melee attacks against any charter within one square along a standard LOS line - that is to say, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally in line with the Rancor. Because the Rancor is capable of reaching over other figures, other figures do not block LOS from the Rancor to it's target. However, terrain features that block LOS will prevent the Rancor from making this "ranged" attack per the normal rules.

Any figure that the Rancor can attack, that is capable of making a ranged attack, may attack the Rancor whether or not there is a character that blocks LOS. Characters still block LOS to the Rancor for all characters out of the Rancor's attack range. Melee characters must still be adjacent to the Rancor to attack it.

I will update this page with diagrams as soon as I get a moment.
