Bail Organa

 

A member of the Alderaan royal family who represented the planet as a Senator in both the Republic and the Empire, Bail Organa fought for peace during the Clone Wars. When the Republic became the Galactic Empire, Bail aided Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda in secret, adopting Leia as his own child to hide her true blood from Darth Vader. He then worked with Mon Mothma to create what would become the Rebel Alliance, and secretly aided several Rebel cells, including the Lothal cell, in the hope that one day the Empire would fall and the Republic would return. He unfortunately perished when the Death Star destroyed Alderaan in a show of its destructive might. For more on Bail, go here.
