Welcome to the Epic Duels Wiki! The purpose of the wiki is to be a catalog of all known custom creations for Star Wars Epic Duels and Epic Duels, including fan-made character decks, maps, custom Star Wars expansions, even non-Star Wars material for Epic Duels.  Some material is directly accessible from this site, other is available to external links of various fan sites with custom material.  You may use this wiki to not only explore fan-made material that already exists, but to add your own content.

For the first time user, this website can be a little overwhelming, but you can scroll below to find two great collections of fan-made decks and maps to get you started.  There are also a few quick ways to navigate:  Use the side bar, start with Characters to see a character catalog of hundreds of fan-made decks.  Use Maps to access dozens of fan-made maps, or Full Expansions for expansion sets for Star Wars and even non-Star Wars expansions like Game of Thrones, Marvel, Smash Brothers and more.  There are also replacement materials for the game, Software for creating original material, resources for finding Figures, links to design articles and more.  Or, if you're looking for something specific, you can try the search bar.

About

Back in 2002, the only place to discuss this board game in any detail was at the Epic Duels Yahoo Group (RIP).  People began sharing their custom decks, maps, strategies and other ideas there, and it was an amazing time to be a fan of the board game.  Before long, we ran out of the meager file space, so most people found ways to host their own creations via other sources in order to share their work.  Over the years it became increasingly more difficult to keep track of all the custom materials, and thus, in 2009, this wiki was born.  It was initially created by Scott Hagarty and eventually Roman took stewardship.  Umondy, Freaky Mutant Man, and JAG are the other current administrators.

Custom Decks

Check out the Characters in the sidebar to the right, or try these ready-made sets of decks to get you started:

10-Year Anniversary Fan Expansion

This expansion is a collection of the 12 best custom decks and 2 maps on the wiki, as voted on by members of the Epic Duels online community in 2012.  All the materials have been tested, discussed, debated and ultimately found to pass muster by some of the most hardcore fans on the internet.

Expanded Universe Expansion

The EU Expansion is a fan-based community expansion to SWED. Fans of the game from the Epic Duels Forum (remaining members of which have migrated here) collaborated to design and test this expansion over six months in 2007.  Most of the decks are excellent, and the maps are some of the best created to date.

Discussion Groups

The best place to discuss Epic Duels is probably right here on this Wiki.  There are pages on analysis and individual decks and all can be commented on, or even go ahead and comment right on the front page.  There used to be the Yahoo! group, then the Epic Duels Forum, but all traffic eventually migrated here or boardgamegeek.

You can also try:

The boardgamegeek discussion section:  Another really good place to discuss the game.

Geektopia Games is still active and there's some discussion there.

The Epic Duels Forum (offsite link) was once an incredibly lively place, but has pretty much died out.  If you post there, though, you'll probably get a reply.

The original Yahoo! group appears to be no more.  Same goes for Yahoo! outside of Fantasy sports.

Epic Duels Online

Yes, you can play this board game online for free!  Check out this info page for more details on how to install the VASSAL gaming engine, and how to use the SWED gaming module.  And once you're up to speed, you can take part in the Epic Duels Online League.

There has been some mention of Epic Duels for Tabletop Simulator but no confirmation, please post if you have information on it.

Adding Your Own Content

This is a wiki after all, and we want to see what you've created for SWED!  If you've never created a custom deck or map before, that's ok.  Perhaps some of the creations you find here will inspire your own.  Here are a few items to check out to help with creating your custom deck, and with ultimately sharing it on the wiki.

How To Use Wiki

Please read this page before you share anything on the wiki.  It's explains how to create a new page, edit an existing page, or upload any new content.

Deck Designer

This is some amazing free software that makes it really easy to create custom decks in both .PDF and VASSAL online gaming engine formats.

Component Design Articles

Articles explaining, pondering, ruminating or detailing the art of deck creation.
