Alternate Card Rulings

Here you'll find some variant rulings on cards with not-so-clear directions.

  • All Too Easy: The official ruling from Hasbro, which states any defense regardless of the value prevents the attack from being 20, doesn't satisfy some players. Another way to play is that you must defend with a value of 3 or higher to prevent the 20 damage. So, if you defend with 0-2 (or no defense card), then the attack is worth 20. The same variant can be used with Zam's Sniper Shot.

  • Battlemind: The unconfirmed Hasbro ruling on this card is that the attack and defense values on Battlemind have no value while in hand and only have a value when played (and are thus unaffected by cards like I Will Not Fight You that specify cards with an attack value greater than 1 in your hand).  An alternate way to play this is that each Battlemind in hand has an attack and defense value equal to one less than the total number of cards in hand.

  • Force Rebound: Most players interpret Force Rebound to do damage equal to the effective attack value. However, some have pointed out that the wording on the card is "the attack number on the attacker’s card" and so interpret it to be equal to the value literally printed on the card (Ex. Battlemind is 0, Justice is always 4)

  • Taunting: Some players require the person controlling Dooku to verbally Taunt their opponent after a defense card is revealed. So, saying to your opponent, "Surely you can do better!" after attacking, would be an appropriate taunt. Failure to taunt your opponent before discarding Taunting, results in a loss of the card draw effect on the card.

  • You Will Die Some players require the person controlling Emperor Palpatine to give their best Palpatine impression with the line "You Will Die." The best practicioners cackle wildly, wrinkle up their face, and thrust their crooked fingers forward in mock Force Lightning pose while their opponent discards every card in their hand.
