Glossary

What follows is a glossary of standard terminology used to talk about Epic Duels. Standard jargon has developed as years of discussion has evolved, and the following Glossary is intended help define some of the terminology.

  • All Roll: also: Red Roll: Any roll of the die that results in a red/purple number face (has a tiny "ALL" printed below the number). An All Roll allows you to move all of your characters up to the number rolled. The opposite of a green roll.

  • Aqua Deck: The game creators originally used colors to distinguish the 10 standard basic cards that major characters in the game have. In keeping with this structure, Aqua is a custom deck for more defensive run-of-the-mill Jedi and Sith characters. Aqua Deck has the following breakdown: 4/1, 4/2 x3, 3/3 x2, 2/3, 2/4, 1/4 x2.

  • Basic Cards: Regular Combat cards. These cards feature no text (outside of an attack and defense value) or special effects. Major characters typically have 10 of these in their deck, while minor characters typically have 9. There are 4 standard decks for major characters (designated with colors) and two standard decks for minor characters (strong and weak).

  • Blue Deck: The game creators originally used colors to distinguish the 10 standard basic cards that major characters in the game have. The Blue Deck is a balanced set for the well-rounded Jedi or Sith, featuring the following breakdown: 5/1 x2, 4/1, 4/2 x2, 3/3 x2, 2/3, 1/4 x2. Brown deck features: 5/1, 4/1 x2, 4/2 x2, 3/2, 2/3 x2, 1/4 x2.

  • Direct Damage: Any damage inflicted directly to a character's hit points. Special cards or additional effects on Power Combat cards that say, "so-and-so receives 3 damage" would be considered to be Direct Damage. Darth Vader's "Throw Debris" card does 4 direct damage.

  • Extensions: Game files with custom creations that VASSAL will load with a module when playing Epic Duels Online. Many custom extensions to the game exist here in this wiki.
